When I saw the title of this book, I was thinking well what could you do with a topic that already has history behind it? Wouldn't it be too boring of a book? Well, it turns out it's not at all. Goodman is super creative with the book because she puts you in the book and gives you a chance to tinker with and maybe even change Greece history! If you know your Greek mythology, you can truly appreciate the writing in here more. You would probably know what the significance of the River Styx is, or the ferryman (this reminds me of Castlevania II a bit.) Besides searching for Zeus, you will almost definitely meet Athena, and you may run into Icarus and Daedalus, Poseidon, Hades, Helios and his son, Persephone, or the Minotaur or others. The Minotaur is not simply dangerous as the greek myths may predict. This book takes possibly interesting angles on several scenarios depending on your decisions in the book. The minotaur idea is also revisited in Fright Night (#164) by Edward Packard. There's one ending where you end up staying on Olympus as a demi-god I think and you somehow communicate to your parents each year how to improve their archaelogical digs even though you are about 1000 years in the past from their time, and that part of that particular ending just doesn't hold water. Good luck in your adventure if you so choose this book, and don't drown!
