Absolutely Superb!

The Tarantula Whisperer brought some tears and plenty of joy and laughter to me. I got the sense that Dr. Pasten is very passionate about her veterinary work and is equally passionate about sharing the special human-animal bond with her audience. Her creative writing geniously intertwines real-life stories about her clients and personal companions and gives simple, yet interesting approaches to making your pets happy...Happiness is what it's all about, isn't it?I'm anxiously awaiting her next book!

Great book for animal lovers

"Tarantula Whisperer" is not a book about spiders! It is a wonderfully entertaining, educational book on understanding animals, communciating with them and caring about and for them. With fun anecdotes from her vet practise, Pasten gives us unusual insights and untraditional advice. My dogs and I highly recommend it.

HATS OFF TO LAURA PASTEN !

I love everything about the TARANTULA WHISPERER except the title. Referring to spiders just doesn't cover all the great stories found here. This wonderful record of a veterinarian's adventures covers everything from elephants to buzzards. It's downright "edutaining" (educational and entertaining). Don't miss it!

Tarantula Whisperer

I started this book expecting it to be the story of how Dr. Pasten came to understand what made her diverse universe of patients behave the way they do. Indeed, there is much to be learned here from her insights and sensitivity to these animals. What I didn't expect was the wealth of useful, practical medical information she has packed into this conveniently-sized book. But, most of all, I didn't expect to laugh...long, hard, and out loud almost every chapter. I ended up reading half of it to my husband because he kept wanting to know what was so funny!

fascinating and unique pet book

There's an interesting story on just about every page -- this is a terrific pet book for those who want to go beyond the (often boring) how-tos -- I've read hundreds of pet books (researching my own pet books "277 Secrets Your Dog Wants You To Know..." "...Cat Wants You To Know," etc.,) and this is clearly one of the best. You won't be able to put it down.
