The Ultimate CEO Talent Guide

MacKay and Weiss have authored a superb talent guide for CEOs, a "must have" for both new and experienced executives. In our current economic malaise it is clearer than ever that talented leadership is lacking in all sizes and shapes of business. The authors have given us a detailed checklist for success, rich in anecdote and based on important assumptions--talent is attracted, not recruited; retention must be skillfully nurtured and developed; attraction and retention depend on the passion, accountability and consistency of the CEO. This book is not a quick fix, which makes it all the more valuable. To win the talent war (not battle) requires a thoughtful approach with an inspiring and sustainable vision of the future. MacKay and Weiss have given us just that. I only wish I had read this book 30 years ago when I was starting my executive and consulting careers. Of course, it's never to late.
