I highly recommend this book for stepfamilies

When I first married, I had an instant family with two young stepchildren who came to live with us. Not only did I have to cope with being a new wife, but I had to jump in as a stepmother to two children who were trying to understand and deal with the divorce of their parents. The Stepkin Stories address those tough issues in a format that is easy for children to accept. All kids love having stories read to them. The guides coach the adults along the way. I recommend this as a tool for any stepfamily with young kids.

You will be glad you shared this book with a child.

As an elementary teacher I see the fright, hurt, and tears of children lost in the many feelings of divorce. Parents, counselors, and caring adults now have a book that can truly help young children know they are not alone, that divorce is not their fault, and there are positive ways to handle the enormous changes going on in their young lives. The Stepkin Stories are a helpful way to find answers to the many feelings and questions our little ones have in the common, but emotional, thing called "divorce".You will be glad you shared this book with a child.

One of a kind guide to help small children of divorce cope

Peggy Lumpkin has found a way for adults(parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors, concerned friends) to interact with children who are going thru a divorce with their parents. The Stepkin Stories are to be read to the child by the adult and then discuss the feelings of the child brought forth by the stories. By talking about the feelings the child has, he/she learns that he/she is not alone with those feelings and that there are solutions to the problems. The art work, done by the author, is charming and should brighten up the child. This book is a must for all concerned adults who have contact with children trying to cope with the divorce of their parents.
