Great Irish version of the classic Cinderella. When her mother dies, Princess Oona was sent to live with a foster mother. When she was fourteen, her father decided she must leave the foster mother she loves and come back to his court. Since the king was always away leading his troops in battle, Oona was left home with her cruel older sisters. On one of the kings visits home, Oona asks that her foster mother come live with her. Mother Brigid arrives with her only grandson, Cormac. Mother Brigid is the one with magic who gives Oona beautiful clothes and matching horse so that Oona could ride to church ("but stop at the gate and do not dismount"). This is where a prince falls in love with her and grabs her shoe when she flees. He searches, finds, and marries Oona. But one evil sister tricks Oona into falling off a cliff and is eaten by a whale. With the help of Cormac and Mother Brigid, the prince saves her. Now they can live happily ever after.
