The Spiritual Art Of Creative Silence is totally biblical and offers a lot of good insight and advice on how to get started. This is NOT some esoteric mystical book, but one full of practical advice and real life. The author comes from a Baptist background, only learning of the contemplative lifestyle as an adult. In each chapter the author deals with some aspect of her journey (really spiritual issues we all face), sharing personal struggles and how God worked in her life. She ends each chapter with "Finding God in the Silence", a short meditative exercise aimed at helping the reader learn to center his or her attention on the person of Christ in action. This is a book that is very practical, insightful and could be the beginning of a changed life.
