Though subtitled a "primer," Kerry Pobanz's book on the various aspects of spiritual existence and the spiritual universe is perhaps the best and most comprehensive that I have encountered. Pobanz has obviously engaged in extensive and intensive research and shows that he is intimately familiar with important historical treatments as well as the contemporary "new age" literature on this general topic. I especially appreciate his exposition of the lesser known writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, Anthonia Borgia, and Sang Hun Lee. Having myself frequently taught a university course entitled, "Psychology of Spirituality," a course that covers many of the same topics, I found much of interest in Pobanz' book. Especially illuminating is his systematic assessment of the whereabouts of the spirit world, human sexual expression in the spirit world, spiritual growth after physical death, and the nature of earthbound spirits. No serious student of spiritual reality should overlook this book. It goes beyond the sensationalism and story-telling that is sometimes found in this literature. Pobanz's book offers cogent conceptual frameworks and reveals vital spiritual principles that we seem to crave in the new millenium. Having just finished the book, I am now immediately rereading it. A five-star book, without a doubt.
