another partially brilliant Waldorf teacher journal, useful

I met Douglas at RSCollege around 2000. His intelligence, gentleness and kindness are reflected in this work. This admirable effort, a mixture of curriculum poems and stories and theoretical material, is part of a genre of literature I would called "published Waldorf teacher journals." This book seems to be chiefly valued for its selection of gems of material useful in grade one. This means there is much brilliant observation and insights into what works and what does not in a whole-child classroom, including many insights about administering a class. These gems are mixed in with a good deal of more conventional thinking and things you already heard in whatever Waldorf teacher training you attended. In this case, the final effect is worthwhile; the gems are good enuf that they outweigh other material and familiar material that will be of little interest if you already have read 4-5 published Waldorf teacher journals.
