The Snake Pit which Inspired a great movie

The Snake Pit is based on Mary Jane Ward's actual experience in a Women's mental hospital in 1941. It is an amazing look at the horrible circumstances of a woman who had a nervous breakdown. It would be a good book to read after the much shorter Ten Days in a Mad House by Nellie Bly from 1887.
