Good in its time, and still good. As a history book, that is.

It is a comprehensive description of the former so vital SLIP and PPP protocols, which used to drive the entire planet toward where we are now. Literally. Get it and read it only if you are interested in the research of the past. Describes usage with Windows and Macintosh, ftp, telnet, WAIS, Gopher, Usenet news, and of course web with-sit down now-Mosaic and Netscape! Welcome to aisle one Tech Museum. Of course the subject has no relevance for contemporary 2009 online communications. Or do you still use a dial up modem?
