Excellent Teen Mystery/Suspense/Adventure Story

I read this book years ago, before I somehow lost my copy :(. Alison and Eric, the Thorne Twins, are trying to save a friend from a deadly crimelord, a man skilled at addiction-backed manipulation and coercion. High quality fiction, unlike Courtney's surprisingly unremarkable "The House That Ate People". Maybe Courtney had more inspiration for this story. If you can get a copy, read it. It's too bad when a good book goes out of print!
