Sara Good is in the Lake District for three weeks to help an author help finish his book, acting as a typist and secretary. What she doesn't know until she arrives is that the author is the same man who first attracted her and then repulsed her five years ago (having never learned his name before). The reason for Nick Raynor's rejection of Sara is because the silver pendant she always wears was once part of his family's vast silver collection (what the book is about) and he beleives her father stole it from his father. A rocky relationship is sustained through most of the book--there are some pretty fun supporting characters (Nick's sister Caroline and her son Hal come to mind). An enjoyable read, slightly dated with some things (smoking hero who's slightly aggressive towards the heroine, etc) but not disturbingly so. I thought the ending was tied up a little hastily, but overall pretty enjoyable book.
