Oxytocin use in excess is real and fatal

I just got done reading this book. I actually have had to pick my jaw up from the floor. Having suffering a "rare spontaneous oxytocin" uterine rupture on a previously unscarred uterus has obviously had some personal affects on me. My son died, my uterus exploded like some of the characters and I almost didn't survive the delivery. I feel her research in this book to be truly amazing. Though you hear more and more of uterine ruptures it's still something that is very real and people should be aware of. Even if this book is fiction, it happens. Aside from the emotinal aspect for me, I would reccomend this book. I found it to be very suspense filled.

Intelligent Read for the Curious Mind

I love this novel, it not only keeps you guessing whudonit till the last page, it is also very stimulating intellectually. I have learned new medical terminologies that l would not under every day circumstances seek out. I will read Margaret's other books (if any)in a heartbeat and recommend it to all who has a curious mind. I thoroughly enjoyed it

Would like to see more like this...compelling!

Riveting suspense...couldn't put it down. The pace of the action kept me interested enough to read all night. I liked the writing style and will definitely buy her next book which I hope will be published soon. To Margaret, wherever you are: I really enjoyed your good work...keep it up! I would like to see more like Dr. Rae Duprey.

Wonderfully original.

Terrific! It was so suspenseful I couldn't put it down. I love a good mystery, particularly when I can not figure it out beforehand, which is rare. I appreciated the fact that the protagonist wasn't portrayed as a super woman. She had flaws, but was consistent in her beliefs and determination - a strong woman. I especially enjoyed the relationship dynamics between all the characters. It is so refreshing to read a book that I can identify with; involving black professional characters without focusing on the race issue or female oppression. The relationship between the protagonist and anesthesiologist was just plain hot. It looks like this book will mark the beginning of a series, at least I hope so. It's been a year since it was published, and I simply assumed that "And Down Will Come Baby" was already on the market. To my disappointment, it was not, but it will be in my shopping cart as soon as it is released. Brava, Dr. Cuthbert, Brava!

This book was EXCELLENT

This book was excellent and as soon as her next book comes out, I will be buying it.The heroine was one that I found myself relating to and liking. It may be unrealistic from an OB/GYN point of view, but I am not a doctor so I don't care. It made the OB/GYN field seem very interesting. Also, I would imagine that most fiction books (as well as television shows, movies, etc.) have to overdramatize a bit. Why would we read a book about a doctor who just had plain old office visits with no happenings and no drama? I am pretty surprised about the number of negative comments and wonder about their validity.I love mystery books and am a fan of many mystery series (PD James, Sara Paretsky, Grace Edwards, Janet Evanovich, and more) and Ms. Cuthbert is certainly among the best. The Silent Cradle was interesting and complex and had many things that people can relate to in their own lives (complex relationships with friends and ex's, problems at work, rivalries, and more).Again, I LOVED this book and anxiously look forward to her next one. If you have any questions about whether or not you'd like this book, don't worry about it. If you like mysteries with a female protagonist, you will like this book.
