Sad, Raw & Gut-Wrenching in the Best Way

War from the eyes of a woman, royalty turned slave. This book really depicts the reality of what women caught in the crossfires of war have to endure, there is no sugarcoated love-story between Briseis & Achilles. You really just want to reach out & hug these women. This book is very detailed & grotesque about the casualties of war as well & touches base on Achilles self-inflicted, inner torment. The ending is not happy or wrapped in a bow, but is exactly what you'd expected.

A realistic view of war

This book is sad. All of it. And it's supposed to be that way. War is horrific and this story reveals what it may have been (and probably was) like.
