With Ted Harrison's illustrations, this classic poem comes alive. Whether its read as a children's introduction to poetry or just for fun, this is a book to own. "Were you ever out in the Great Alone?" Probably not -but this book can get you close.
Rhyme of the ancient sourdough

If you like a book, and you're not a crook and you're old enough to breed, wipe off that frown and sit right down, pick up this book and read. To the frozen north you'll sally forth, to the tundra's virgin snow. Eat moosemeat stew like Dan McGrew, with a slab of sourdough. I enjoy old Robert Service, his poems set me free. There's others far more elegant, he's good enough for me. These poems reek of the gold they'd seek, they tell of a life that's cruel. But there's humor buried by the gold, life's truest hidden jewel. So find a chair by the fireside there, throw your mukluks by the door, and learn who shot poor Dan McGrew, and what they shot him for.
Art work in this book is phenomenal!

The poem is great to begin with, but coupled with the pictures, "formidable!" Each page could be clipped out and framed on its own merits.
