Eddings can do no wrong

I love the Tamuli books, if there is any way in which you have reached this point without having read anything by David Eddings, you must convert. He has enjoyed the sort of universal acclaim of the Harry Potter novels, and with much better reason & writing. Whilst it is true that by the time he wrote the Rivan Codex and more co-authored with Leigh Eddings they seem a little over impressed with themselves, this is a stand alone Eddings and well worth the read. Satisfying & occasionally silly go ahead and read it - if you haven't already, congratulations it's a great book, a great series and I am confident that you will enjoy yourselves. So I believe that David Eddings can do no wrong -- unless you rate Polgara the Sorceress as a grevious sin...

One of the best books out there today!

The Shining Ones by David Eddings is a New York Times best seller published by Del Ray Fantasy. This book is about a Padion Knight named Sparhawk who travels all over his world with his loyal companions. His traveling companions consist of the child goddess Aphrael, Queen Ehlana, Talen a young knight (a thief in his own time), Sephrenia (a Sytric Socceress), Khalad (Sparhawk's Squire), Tynian, Ulath, Kalten, Biver (who are all Padion Knights from different orders), and Mirtiai a giantess just to name a few. Oh, and a couple thousand soldiers. These people must fight many strange creatures such as Trolls, Drawn-Men, and long dead soldiers raised from the grave. They must also learn about the elusive and mysterious "Shining Ones". Here is a quote from this wonderful book. "That fog's moving straight toward us, and it's bringing the light with it. I don't like the feel of this, Sparhawk," Kalten said, drawing his word. The glowing fog-bank divided and flowed around the hill upon which they stood. And as it drew near, Sparhawk could make out the shapes of bodes within the blur of light. Sehrenia shrieked, "Defiled ones! Foul and accursed!" But the lights in the fog never faltered as they continued their glowing, inexorable advance. "Run! Run for your lives! It's the Shining Ones!" You won't put this book down. It is so suspenseful that you will be sucked into it until you are finished with the story. If you do not like suspense, action, plot twists, and magic don't read this book. All in all this is just plain a great book. You should definitely go out and get your own copy.

It is great and so is the writter

To all you people who kept on saying that this book wasn't as good as his last books your right it didn't have the same exciting story but if you had just written a ton of great books like Eddings has you would slack off a bit too if it was one of your lastn series as for the book I have seen better but usually those better books were written by authors in either the start of the wrighters carrer or in the middle not at the end. dear Mr. Eddings I don't know if you will ever see this but comming from an extremely devoted fan I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! This book was part of a terrific story.

A Great book!!

This was the first book of David Eddings that I read, and it started me onto his writing right away. A wonderful plot, there wasn't a slow part in the whole story. To those people who said this book was awful, what were you THINKING? Congradulations on a great book, Mr. Eddings!

The best book I've read

This book is full of adventure and fun. A great book for ages 13 and up
