She-Apostle

Christian culture once had a fetish for martyrdom. True believers would spread cloaks below gallows to catch drops of a martyr's blood, dig up the bodies, and dismember and preserve parts to be sent to favored patrons. Luisa de Carvajal, a gently-bred Spanish lady, was a major supplier of English martyr bodies to believers on the Continent. She longed for martyrdom herself, and eventually found it. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. History, womens' studies and religion students will appreciate it, and those interested in historical cases to compare to today's suicide bombers.

She-Apostle

Excellent insight to the persecution of Catholics in 17th century England and the blind sighted countries who had their own evil's going on at the same time.
