Are you tired of paying high prices for fresh vegetables, meat and eggs at the grocery store? Would you like to have the security of knowing exactly what is in your family's food because you produced it yourself? Would you like to eventually turn your diversified small farm into a sustainable business? If so, this book is for you. Our family was "green" before green was the in thing to do...we had gardens and livestock out of economic necessity when I was a child. As an adult, I produced most of my own food on my own properties until I found myself actually having to move to the Mojave Desert of Southern California, just outside of Los Angeles. I was appalled at how little urbanites know about food production! My purpose is to try to pass on all of those old but very useful skills I learned as a child such as: raising chickens, canning and storing food, building a root cellar, trimming a goat's hoof, chicken coop and pig pen design, small diversified farm design and much more. My goal is to give those of you out there wishing to be a bit more self-sufficient (or a lot more) a knowledge boost from what little I do know about diversified small farming and self-sufficiency. I hope you enjoy my ramblings and find them at least a little bit helpful!
