Stephanie Laurens Lovers-This is for you!

If you are looking for a series of books, similar to The Mallory's Series-by Jo Beverly and The Cynster Series by Stephanie Lauren's, with the same type of sizzling sex plus a dash of intrigue, then Jillian Hunter's-Boscastle Family series is a definite MUST READ! "The Seduction of an English Scoundrel:A Novel" is the first of the series about the head of the family, The Marquis of Sedgecroft. A series of plots, misunderstandings, one independant female, and seduction, make for a humorous, delightful, and wonderful romp!

Seduction of an English scoundrel

After being abandoned at the altar by her affianced and childhood friend Sir Nigel Boscastle, Lady Jane Welsham has little chance of receiving any other propositions and seems doomed to spinsterhood. That is until Grayson Boscastle, the fifth Marquess of Sedgecroft (handsome alpha male of a rake - aren't they all?) comes up with the idea to pretend a courtship that will surely attract the attention of all the elegible bachelors in town. As they fall in love, Grayson slowly re-evaluates his previous aversion to marriage and considers reformation while Jane is eaten by guilt - her aborted marriage was actually a plan devised to help her friend marry his true love while freeing her from marriage. Now can she muster enough courage to confess and will Grayson still forgive her when she does? The hero is the average alpha-male of the genre with a heroine that is not TSTL (too-stupid-to-live) which is a blessing. The plot is very predictable so don't expect much here. An unpretensious quick read if you're in the mood. First part of a trilogy followed by The Love Affair of An English Lord and The Wedding Night of an English Rogue 3 and a half stars.

A Fine Beginning For A New Series!!!

Ms. Hunter has a fine start to her new series under her belt with her latest effort. She has created very entertaining characters and put them into very interesting situations. As a result the reader is treated to a story that will entertain them while reading. Lady Jane Welsham has been left at the alter. She is not breaking into tears though. This lady knows exactly where her would be groom is and why he's not where he's suppose to be. She can handle the gossip and the taunts because she is going to live her life the way she wants. Hopefully she will find true love...but that's not a requirement. Of course all of her plans go right down the drain when Grayson Boscastle Marquess of Sedgecroft decides for the first time in his life to do something honorable. This rake is going to help Jane back into society. But when faced with Jane he doesn't do anything that he planed. Instead he finds himself falling in love. But what will happen when he finds out that the bride wasn't jilted as he thinks? Will he still follow his heart or will he let pride ruin his chance for happiness? This was a very entertaining story. The only problems that I found was there were several times when modern day terms and words were used. This pulled me from the historic time period and was a bit de-railing. Aside from that this was a fine romance. Grayson and Jane were fun characters and we were introduced to several other charactres that will play a roll in the upcoming stories. Ms. Hunter is off to a fine start with this read.

A wonderful beginning.

Lady Jane Welsham had been promised to Sir Nigel Boscastle since birth. They grew up as close friends. Though they did not love each other, Society expected them to someday wed. However, upon her wedding day Lady Jane is jilted. Sir Nigel has run off. Lady Jane is sent to her family's private mansion to recover from all the rumors and humiliation. Although ruined in the eyes of Society, she is delighted to have escaped a loveless marriage. No one knows that Jane has willingly sacrificed her reputation to gain her freedom. All was going according to plan. But then Grayson steps in. Grayson Boscastle, Marquess of Sedgecrost, is furious when his cousin, Nigel, does not show up for his wedding. In fact, Nigel has disappeared with all his belongings. As the new head of the family, Grayson finds himself weary of his status as a scoundrel. He is determined to shed his past reputation. To do so, he sets out to salvage Lady Jane's pride and restore her honor. **** A terrific beginning to the Boscastle trilogy. The author has succeeded in giving all the secondary characters some fascinating depths without sacrificing the plot or story of the main characters in the least. This amusing tale of scandal is very well done and leaves me looking forward to Chloe's story. **** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

A Great Beginning to a New Trilogy!

One of the things I love the most about Jillian Hunter's books is her wit. Her sense of humor is evident and often catches the reader off guard causing him/her to burst out chuckling. This sense of humor is again predominant in The Seduction of an English Scoundrel. Grayson Boscastle, Marquess of Sedgecroft, comes to the aid of Lady Jane Welsham when she is disgraced by being left at the alter by his cousin, Nigel. Little did Grayson know that the jilting was an elaborate plan between Nigel and Jane, so the arranged marriage would not happen. Grayson then agrees to escort Jane to try to help elevate her social status so she won't become a spinster. He didn't bargain for the instant chemistry between the two. There are lots of fireworks in this book! Seems Jane and Grayson can't keep their hands (or lips) off each other whenever they are alone, and soon the attraction becomes irresistible and much more than Grayson bargained for. But when Grayson finds out about the ruse of a wedding, he decides to get even with Jane before asking for her hand in marriage. This is where Hunter shines - the banter between the two has the reader actually laughing out a few times. Grayson has a plan to pay back Jane for her deception. Jane finds out about it and turns the tables on Grayson with her own plan for payback. But in the end, all is well in London. The character development is superb. The reader can choose which main character to cheer on - Jane or Grayson - hoping that one outdoes the other's antics. No matter which side you choose, you'll still be the winner in reading this book! We are given glimpses of the inner sides of the characters, as they are developed. We're instantly smitten with Jane's determination to not have her life dictated by her parents. We're enchanted by Grayson who is a lovable rascal trying to do the right thing now that he is head of the family. The plot line was good but on the predictable side. Even so, it is very entertaining and leaves the reader with a smile. The side plots are very funny and keep things interesting. The interlude between Nigel and his wife (previous governess to the Boscastle clan) is absolutely hilarious! This is the first book in a trilogy by Jillian Hunter. If the other two are as much fun to read and as interesting, I can't wait for them to become available! My only complaint is Ms. Hunter needs to write faster, as I hate waiting for the next book to be published. Ok, so maybe I'm impatient, but that's how I am with my favorite authors! If you haven't read any of her previous books, try this one - you'll become a Jillian Hunter fan too!
