Your life is made of many parts-and some of them are not eager to come under the rulership of the Holy Spirit. Is it your logical brain? Your unruly emotions? Your will that resists God's call for submission? Does your body seem to have a mind of its own? You may have considered the call to "die to sin" and decided to wait for that process to happen another day. God has a welcome message for you: His plans for your life will be realized. The power of His Spirit will help you develop into an amazing being-spirit, soul and body. The process begins as you train your soul-mind, will and emotions-to come under the direction of your spirit, under the direction of the Holy Spirit. For, as Graham Cooke teaches, the body will follow the one in charge. It is internal work and not always pain free, but it is the way to peace and life. Because God is at work, you can lay down your own agenda and watch His dreams for you come true! Book jacket.
Training your soul to come under your spirit, and the Holy Spirit

Often times, we lead our lives led by our soul (mind, emotions and will) because we were born in sin, separated from God, and never knew better on leading our lives in the spirit. However, coming into repentance and a relationship with Him, our spirit has come alive to the Spirit of God, but we often continue to live our life still in a soulish manner. In this book, Cooke describes the difference between the body, soul and spirit, esp. the areas of the soul in relation to our spirit and the Holy Spirit. Cooke also teaches us how to train our soul to obey our spirit, and our spirit to obey the Holy Spirit. This is a deep internal work and definately not pain free, but it is the way to peace and life. At the back of the book are 2 charts. Chart 1 is a list describing what the soul is as compared to what the spirit is. Chart 2 describes the difference between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd heaven. It is followed by 4 appendices - (1) Meditation, (2) Dealing with disillusionment, (3) Performance Christianity, and (4) Lectio Divina. Some of the great quotes from the book are: - Whatever God is touching in you is what He wants to bring under His rule (pg. 10). - Trying to die to it makes us preoccupied with what we are not. But living in Christ Jesus makes us preoccupied with Him (pg. 11). - We are all Pharisees, being healed (pg. 23). - The pathway to glorious life is determined by how we yield ourselves to God (pg. 40). - Faith is cold-blooded and has no emotion attached to it (pg. 41). - God uses His unconditional love to kill religiosity (pg. 41). - A soul in charge of its own spirituality often becomes religious and Pharisaical. It creates hundreds of rules for people, all meant to keep everything under control (pg. 49). - Self-acceptance is the key to loving others (pg. 52). - Disillusionment is the breaking of our illusions (pg. 77).

Graham Cooke communicates the relationship between the soul and the spirit so well in this book. You walk away with a complete understanding of the born again experience which has been made simple enough for you to share it with others. Well done!

Graham has an annointing for making the simple things of God stay simple. In other words, He has a knack for getting the hay down out of the loft so the cows can eat it. He makes the Word easy to understand and does it with the Love of God. Thanks Graham for another great book!!
