A fresh, new perspecive

Have you noticed how so many of the other financial books out there all say more or less the same thing? I bought "The Savage Truth on Money" CD and was so impressed that I went back and bought the book also.Ms. Savage has a vast background on personal finance and offers a fresh and unique approach that is backed with fact. She is a pleasure to listen to as well. Playing her CD is like having Ms. Savage in your car or office talking directly to you.Great program but only for those who are open minded.

Excellent author review and book

I enjoyed this book by Terry Savage. My wife bought this book along with The Road to Wealth and The Laws of Money by Suze Orman. In many ways, Savage pushes Orman on financial advice and savvy and is a witty writer as well. Both have credentials to write financial books, unlike other authors.I also felt that Ms. Savage showed class in her review, thanking her fans and clearing the air o n the Microsoft issue. And at least she (Savage) writes reviews using her own name, not an alias as some other authors do.Overall good good written by a person of quality.

This is the best I have read so far!

This book is outstanding for beginners (like me). A very easy read yet so complex at the same time. "Aunt Terry" shows genuine concern for her readers and practily holds your hand through the concepts. This book is very thorough and up to date unlike other books out there that are 7 years old and way out of date.2 thumbs up. A great book. Very pragmatic and powerful.

Quinn vs Savage?

I noticed several posts here recommending Jane Bryant Quinn's "Making the Most of Your Money" over this excellent work by Terry Savage.I am not sure why this paid shill for Quinn continues to run down successful knowledgeable authors like Savage aside from the fact that this shill is being paid.Aside from the fact that Terry Savages book is more up to date (Quinn's book was released over 7 years ago but is being hyped lik it is new), SAVAGE is also more knowledgeable about personal finance and investing in particular. "The Savage Truth" is not a compendium of theories ala Quinn but a composite of facts from actual clients (does Quinn have any??).Of course not! Quinn is an author not a CFP or anythingelse.By contrast, Savage knows and has mastered her craft. "The Savage Truth about Money" is an outstanding book and should be read by an serious financial student.Interesting is that I pervused a local book store earlier today and found several copies of "The SAVAGE Truth", and of course a lot of books by Suze Orman. However, I could not find a single copy of "Making the Most of Your Money" by Quinn. If she is so great, how come the book stores don't even carry her books? Or are we to assume that her books only sell via the internet where people will gladly pay a huge shipping fee due to the cost of that book?Anyway, I highly recommend "The Savage Truth on Money" for people who want straight, competent and current financial advice by a real financial authority.I recommend Quinn's book as well but keep in mind that much of it is outdated and that Quinn is a writer without any financial credentials. Also, I am sure that anyone who has read both books and used the advice will agree that at least Terry Savage's advice works.

To My readers

I thank the many thousands of people who have purchased and profited from my books, and those who have taken the time to write a review. But I'd like to make one correction: I do not "work for" Microsoft. I write columns for their www.MoneyCentral.com website and moderate a discussion board there, for which I am compensated. But I am also paid to write columns for the Chicago Sun-Times, Barrons Online and Mature Outlook Magazine, as well. I also do commentaries for PBS' Nightly Business Report, for which I am paid. Further, I made every effort to mention Quicken software every time I mentioned Microsoft's Money product -- except where describing different features. I pride myself on my reputation for independent journalism and hold myself to the highest standards. Sincerely, Terry Savage PS Couldn't post a review without stars!
