Henry Morgan the pirate.

A nice read about the sack of Panama City by the pirate Henry Morgan. Of course to the British, he was Sir Henry Morgan and he wasn't a pirate, but a privateer commissioned by the Crown in the protection of Jamaica. Well, if you sack cities and capture ships when both Spain and Great Britain were at peace, then what could you be other than a pirate. One country's privateer is another country's pirate. Nowadays, Henry Morgan graces his image on bottles of whiskey, so he is respectable. This is a nice read about the undeclared war against Spanish possesions in the New World. Earle does a good job of breaking down the stages of the conflict and history of the sack of Panama City. Henry Morgan was a brave person but his heart was in for the wealth of the cities he captured. He was not a patriot but a common pirate. This is the history of the conflict between the privateers and the Spanish crown. An interesting read.
