a great help to see what the greek really means

i had purchased the niv version of this interlinear The New International Version Interlinear Greek-English New Testament and when i came across this one with the revised standard text i had to get it. as is the other reviewer i'm not a big fan of the niv. and having come across the rsv in more than a few of my parallel translation bibles and new testaments i have come to really appreciate it more and more. it's a solid translation that retains the dignity of the kjv and yet is a much easier read. in fact it's said that the translation team of the esv made less than a ten percent change of the rsv text when they developed the english stanard version that has become so popular today. marshall does a fine job as is well outlined by j.b. phillips in his forward to the book. the greek is the 21st edition of nestle's novum testamentum graece and has marshall's literal translation underneath with the rsv text on the left side of the same page. marshall's interlinear is one of the bible study helps that kay arthur recommends in her bookHow to Study Your Bible: The Lasting Rewards of the Inductive Method. a nice interlinear by a brilliant translator with a solid and well respected biblical text that can be a great study aid in anyones search for the fullest meaning and understanding of God's word.

RSV Interlinear Greek, New Testament

Hello to fellow Students of the New Testament....Everett Ferguson or Abe Malherbe should be writing this review, but they would be dealing strictly with the Nestle text...I have been in ministry for 44 years, and I use this book more than ever. My Greek days have receded in memory, and were it not for the publication of this book, now out of print, I would probably be referring back to Ricker-Berry's work, which is not the best Greek text, and in the KJV. The RSV gives a reliable modern-speech rendering, and Marshall's word for word translation makes the translation look quite dynamic--most of the time. I cannot say the same for the NIV---sorry if that offends its fans. Marshall's translation is generally easy enough for an amateur to follow along, but more than that----for you who have taken Greek, this is a wonderful way to get back so much of what one has forgotten. I would hope that Zondervan would consider reprinting...my church alone bought about 20 copies in the '80's, and people were quite happy with them.Tom FowlerSchuyler, Virginia
