Pleasant places, pleasant book

This light-hearted stroll through London's famous parks will please anyone interested in urban landscapes, English History, botany, or just plain good writing. Mr. Williams has done his research admirably and fills his stories with pertinent facts, without ever lapsing into tedious exposition of them. His writing is enjoyably light, with touches of drollery and well chosen quotes, impelling the reader to turn another page and then another before turning out the light. The book includes 29 illustrations and a few maps. Greenwich, St. James, Green, Hyde, Kensington Gardens, Richmond, Hampton Court, and Regents Parks are described. Soft cover, 239 pages, originally priced at $8.95.
