Fun for kids from 1 on up!

The beautiful illustrations are only part of what makes this book great. The descriptions of the animals' movement is simple, yet compelling, prompting our children to act out each page with great enthusiasm. (The frog LEAPS!!! they shout, leaping around the room.) We also enjoy the pages with multiple animals, having great fun identifying different types of fish or counting frogs and flies. So while the book looks pretty simple, the richness yields many, many learning opportunities for children across a wide age range.

A Classic from cover to cover!

When I was little, we had several Richard Scarry compliations, and as soon as we had our daughter, I knew I had to have some Richard Scarry for her. This board book is perfect. At only 9 months old, she does not have the attention span for books with, well, plots, but the brilliant colors and classic Scarry details keep her occupied long enough to read the simple text on each page, and the board book format allows her to turn the pages herself without concern that she'll accidentally tear something. Meanwhile, the text itself is fun, with a lovely cadence that I enjoy reading again and again. One of our faves - we read it every day, and as soon as our daughter sees the book, she starts bouncing and pointing.

Outstanding Board Book!

I bought this board book (used) and my 15 month old son loves it. It is a beautifully illustrated, Richard Scarry classic. If you are looking for those traditional board books with lavish color pictures and simple text, this should be on your bookshelf.
