Welcome to (the real) Miami!

The Rolexxx Club provides an exciting inside look at the entertainment industry and the "glamorous" Miami lifestyle. The book is very well written and the detailed descriptions keep the reader turning pages. I finished it in one day. Although this book is a work of fiction, its portrayal is pretty accurate. There are lots of characters that you'll love to hate, including Dez. The ending left me hoping for a followup. Good job Meta Smith!

This book is HOT!

I waited and waited for this book to come out. I had been hearing things about another video girl who wrote a book and people were saying it was like Karinne Steffan's book but that couldn't be farther from the truth. This book was the story of a young woman from a troubled background who had big dreams of stardom. She took some wrong roads on her journey, some willingly and some she was mislead. She stepped on people, used people, and did sleep around a lot. But under it all she had talent, and when she let herself shine she blew up. Somehow though, fame wasn't enough for her. She had money, and power, but she wanted respect. I don't want to give away too much, but I saw this story as a tale about not giving up on dreams and not letting your past determine what the rest of your life is going to be. It had all the elements: it was well written and had style, the sex scenes were off the meter, and it seemed to jump off the page and come alive. It was very real. Even the rapper Foxy Brown gave Meta Smith a shout out for writing a book so true to the rap game. I'm telling all my friends to cop this. I can't wait for her next book and would love to learn more about her.

Exciting page turner

I could not put it down. I loved the fact that it was ok to both love and hate the main character Dez. There were times when you felt sorry for her and other times when you wanted to slap her. Reminds me of The Coldest Winter Ever. I applaud the author for telling a moving fictional story instead of trying to exploit a tell-all, name dropper. Her writing skills are excellent. Best of luck to you in the future. I can't wait to read her next novel.

The Best Work of Fiction I Have Read This Year

The author's debut deals with controversial issues including sex, drugs, relationships and religion. This fictional book shows some questionable behaviors by the characters and the serious consequences of those behaviors. In the end, there is an underlining message of recovery and deliverance. This is a good read; The Rolexxx Club is "Bling Fiction", definitely not for kids as you can tell by the title. Ironically, the villain has a few good qualities and the heroine Dez has some real weaknesses. It is a hard book to put down, written with a detailed authenticity derived from the author's amazingly diverse life experiences. It is the best work of fiction I have read this year. This author also dealt with the issue of a woman's self worth and how that can influence the decisions she makes in her life. Readers will also be surprised at the unique twist of this story that will surely leave room for a sequel. The Rolexxx Club has glitz, glamour, and street savvy that will surely satisfy its readers. Meta Smith is ready to take hip-hop lit to the next level.
