Great game plan for living a full happy life

The Road to Virtue is an unusual format that defines 13 Virtues of Ben Franklin with short anectotes from Franklin's life and the lives of other famous men and women. There are quotations from people as diverse as Mark Twain to Malcom X illustrating the various Virtues. The interesting thing about this book is that there is some order to Franklin's Virtues. Franklin's system of self-examination was developed over 200 years ago and it seems quite applicable to today's society. Franklin did not seem to be such a high moral individual. There was some concern about his relationships with the ladies, however he was a genius and came up with this system that he called The Art of Virtue. Franklin used this system to improve his own success and The Road to Virtue modernized this apparently unpublished system that Franklin wrote about in his Autobiography. I think that the suggestions for implementing the virtues seem practical. The book may have a role in the busy American home. The book is a very fast read, however the author recommends that it be looked at slowly. Possibly this would be the ideal book to keep in the bathroom. All kidding aside, it has an appendix for using this in a classroom. Teachers are increasing running accross behavioral problems with children and there are a number of good suggestions. The book can be useful for singles in terms of a resource to improve that 55% divorce rate. Overall this is a best buy for an inspirational self-help book. It is packed with a great deal of practical wisdom. I loved a number of the short stores and parables that were used to illustrate some ofthe Virtures. The writing style of the author was tersh and to point. There were areas where the reader could add some of his own insights. It challanged the reader to examine what was a priority and begin acting in a proper way.
