The Rising: Finding My Voice

The Rising is a collection of over a hundred poems that dive into many of the common themes among humanity, including love, boundaries, healing, growth, addiction recovery, and queer issues. As the subtitle "Finding My Voice" implies, this book redeems the voice of the author and redeemer. Despite having been left broken and silenced, the lyrism throughout the pages of this book show a healing and loud voice. Split into three sections--"Learning to Speak," "Conversations," and "Deliberate Voices" the reader will follow along the journey of speaking out after trauma and still creating change.

About the Author
Sergiy Abelson (they/he) currently resides in Greenville, SC studying biochemistry. From a young age he has always loved reading and writing. Beginning in high school he started writing poetry more often to help process life events happening around him. He uses poetry as a form of self healing and meditation, and is excited to share his work with the world. He hopes that his poems will help other young queer individuals feel less alone and be able to find the power and healing in life no matter their background. The Rising is his second collection of poetry, his first being Back Through the Waters released earlier in 2022.
