God is Building His Mighty Church

Being a local church pastor, I am always drawn to books that present ideas that will challenge my thinking about the local church, with a heart to making the local church better and not tearing her down. Jack Eggar does just that in this easy read with powerful punch yet gentle encouragement. Told in narrative style, the book is rich with real-life issues facing many of our nation's church families at this very moment. The story line follows the endeavors of a local church pastor to make a difference among the church family he is guiding. Eggar shows the emotions and the attitudes that so often make up the life of a pastor and a local church body in these tense times. I especially liked the way that Eggar told the story with exciting "twists" in the plot, just when it looked like the "joysuckers" were going to take over the church turnaround plan and sink the ship. God is in the life and building business. He gives new life, changes lives, and builds and rebuilds lives. The power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the tool that God uses. This book will help pastors, church leaders, and members of stagnating local churches to see with fresh eyes the possibilities facing your local church family - see it with God's eyes as a unique and local expression of the beautiful bride of His Son Jesus Christ.

This book is a wake up call to church members and leaders. It inspires you ask, "What is my churches purpose and is that being acomplished?"

A great tool for church leaders!

This is a cool and useful book! The author (Jack Eggar) presents 5 principles that can help churches who have flatlined. That is, whose attendance has not grown (or has declined) in several years. (Statistics show that about 70-80 percent of all churches are in this position.) The neat thing is, he weaves those 5 principles into an interesting, fictional story! The characters are hyperbolized, and there is not a huge amount of mystery involved with the plot, but it's a good story, nevertheless. It will hold your attention, and I guarantee you will recognize some of the people from your own church. I highly recommend this book for anyone who would like to be a better leader in their church!!!
