Six starred reviews A bold and irreverent YA novel that powerfully reminds us that there are many different types of remarkable, The Rest of Just Live Here is from novelist Patrick Ness, author of the Carnegie Medal- and Kate Greenaway Medal-winning A Monster Calls and the critically acclaimed Chaos Walking trilogy. What if you aren't the Chosen One? The one who's supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death? What if you're like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again. Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week's end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life. Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions. I enjoyed the way this was written, very easy to read and get enveloped in the story. I also enjoyed that the group that is focused on in the book wasn't necessarily the "hero" group, meaning that all of the main conflict, all of the action wasn't happening directly to the group. They were more on the outskirts of the main action and only intervened whenever they HAD to. It's very different than what I'm used to reading since most of the time the main conflict happens to the main character or at least the group of the main character, but this time they were just observers until they weren't.
Wonderful Read

Honestly, I picked up this book having some low expectations - but once I picked it up, I couldn't put it back down. A beautiful tale about not being the main character of the story, this book tells something much more important than what we would imagine. I would recommend it to anyone going through a rough patch in their life, as it goes through mental illness, romance troubles, and just plain being a good person.
