Cabinet of Curiosities

This is not really a full-fledged book but a charming, instructive set of essays. You can read it in under an hour. It would make a good birthday present or "Everything is going to be ok," post-breakup gift for a friend. It's a raffish, accurate, post-modern alternative to Ann Landers or The Rules, not prescriptive but descriptive. The author clearly knows all about the bewildering world of heterosexual romance, and loves it enough to poke fun of it with wit and verve.
