Anyone who is even slightly considering purchasing rental property should read Rosemary Fuller Thornton's tongue-in-cheek, first-person account before they sign on the dotted line. Her encounters with sellers, recalcitrant appliances and tenants at her and her husband's apartment buildings are humorous and bitingly sarcastic. It made me think twice about investing in real estate, and I'm already a landlord! A must-read for even a lowly homeowner, as well. I highly recommend it.
Biting satire and real-life trauma; what's not to like?

Rosemary Thornton explores the real-life costs of real estate "Get Rich Quick" efforts. Her story is a painful one at times, but her rapier wit and knack with language (and particularly her gift for hyperbole) keep this from becoming bitter. Her style is reminiscent of Erma Bombeck's, but her subject matter is unique. She tells the tale of her struggles with rental housing in a way that is alternately sobering and hilarous. A must-read for anyone considering a career in real estate, and a great read for everyone else.
