Recommended, but with caution

It IS beautifully illustrated, written at a level they can understand, and full of information. Unfortunately, they included a section on reproduction that thoroughly embarrassed my 13 year old son. The text isn't bad, but the pictures are graphic and contain unnecessary detail. I simply ripped out those pages (his request). The choice of pictures in other places as well is sometimes inappropriate for a children's book. Recommended, but read it first and sticker over or remove the 1% of the book that isn't good.

Beautifully illustrated, for old & young alike

A must have reference for the young reader.Hundreds of entries, each beautifully illustrated in full color.Photos, maps and drawings. The artwork is superb. Each entry comprises one to four pages. The text per entry averages no more than two hundred words per entry. However, the essentials of each entry are covered and one is amazed at the knowledge gained.Adults will find the art & text of each entry appealing & will find themselves spending hours admiring & perusing this book,if you can find it--BUY IT!
