When I was diagnosed with MS in the early 1990's, I read many books on the subject, some helpful, some depressing. This book was by far the most encouraging & inspiring book I had ever read on the subject of multiple sclerosis, especially since the author was an accomplished journalist & also was dealing with the disease. This book does not speak of the effects of MS as insurmountable. The author interviews real people with MS and follows their lives for years. I came away from this reading with new hope that I could still be a productive human being no matter what condition in which I ended up. It inspired me to focus more on DOING what I COULD DO and less on self-pity for what I couldn't do. For a person diagnosed with MS, this book does give hope as the title suggests.
