pure, bold doctrine

the seven deadly heresies and the purifying power of gethemane are to of the most noted speeches from any of the brethren of the church. the purifying power of gehtsemane contains one of the most powerful testimonies of the Savior avalible anywhere. the seven deadly heresies is a speech of pure doctrine that unfortunatly many find offensive. Elder McConkie teaches us the truth within these discourses, plainly and perfectly from the standard works, any who read them will be will edified.

A "Must" for Gospel Students, Scholars, and Teachers

This small book has two of Elder Bruce R. McConkie's largest discourses. "The Purifying Power of Gethsemane" is Elder McConkie's last General Conference talk, and includes his powerful and sure testimony and witness to the life of Jesus Christ. This talk is as good as anything in the Standard Works.The second talk, "The Seven Deadly Heresies," is a discourse Elder McConkie gave at BYU that names and refutes seven of the prominant heresies, or theological errors, prominent among members of the church. These inclue evolution, second-chance theory, God's omniscience and omnipotence, an elaboration of eternal progession, and so forth.The only criticism I would have of this book is that it left out Elder McConkie's third best talk, "The Lord God of Joseph Smith," which can be found in "Sermons and Writings of Bruce R. McConkie."Thisd inexpensive book is well worth the price, and the talks should be memorized!
