Breaks down the ideas, delivers in a "Novel" format

This book uses the format of the Novel to deliver it's five core concepts. This is the first time that i have seen a book on personal finance/wealth/betterment utilize this process entirely. By placing it within the world of Feudal Japan, it also gives the western reader the ability to step outside of the message and examine it in a way that we might not have otherwise. That being said, I do not know to what extent someone who is not looking for a way to better themselves, or their financial situation already, would appreciate this book. However, I think you might be surprised at how easily various readers are able to be drawn into the text. It is quite clear that the writers went to some effort to deliver an accurate text, in regards to the historical setting, as well.

Engaging stories with a great message

I like how this book combines myth with storytelling and a great, solid and true message. The message is something I have heard many times before (a lot of self help books say similar things) but what I find appealing is the way the book presents its advice, in stories. It drew me in. I felt like I was sitting at Hideyoshi's temple school, participating in the conversation and hearing the stories firsthand. The book includes a beautiful part about the difference between hearing/reading knowledge and applying it. A person can learn all the theories of a great teacher, but if you never use them it's only intellectual knowledge and you are no better than a fool. That message was my favorite part. So true

The Prosperous Peasant

Wow, I didn't expect to be so inspired by this little book. A wonderful reminder of the power of gratitude. This would be a great addition to anyone's personal library, something to go back to from time to time for a refresher on what's important in life.

Perfect Timing

The Prosperous Peasant is an inspirational stop on the road to my own prosperity and fulfillment. As relevant now as they were to Japanese culture in the sixteenth century, Samurai Hideyoshi's 5 secrets of fortune and fulfillment are timeless answers to the simple question, "How can I achieve prosperity and fulfillment doing something I am passionate about?" I really enjoyed this book.

engaging and enlightening

This book is hard to put down, and its lessons on developing personal success are direct and relevant. Having lived in Japan for six years, I especially enjoyed the setting, and the Japanese "can-do" attitude ("gambarimasu") is prevalent throughout. Anyone who reads this book is sure to be inspired, and anyone who applies its principles will, I believe, make themselves a more successful person.
