Relates the experiences of a young man growing up in a small Texas town in the shadow of his strict preacher father. This description may be from another edition of this product.
but if you grew up a Southern Baptist preacher's son it will be absolutely delightful. Certainly Mr. Pringle has written an autobiographical novel of one sort or the other, and certainly Mr. Pringle has hit the nail on the head. I read this book the first time about 15 years ago and have just read it again. It was very funny the first time, it was funnier still the second time. A marvelous diversion for an unfortunately small audience.

Algonquin Books has yet to let me down. The Preacher's Boy, set in fictional Staunton, TX, is a fine coming-of-age story. The characters are human, the conflicts are honest, and Pringle's style is very Clyde Edgerton.
