An essential woodworking book

This is a fantastic book for those needing to learn about not only wood and tools (hand and power... also the Pros and Cons of use) but also construction tips; plans and drawings for your preparation and guidance; types of joints and what is best for what at type of project; fixings and fitting; fasteners; advanced woodworking, and wood finishing. Also included are some good simple projects that you can alter to your own needs, and a glossary in the back. The photographs and diagrams are very clear and well drawn. An excellent, comprehensive, step-by-step course / "How to..." in working with wood. Overall I consider this book invaluable for anyone just starting to work with wood and tools. It also lays flat when open as all good shop books should. For further study on specific woodworking topics, the books published by The Taunton Press ("Taunton's Complete Illustrated Guide to.....") are outstanding.
