By subverting the dominant paradigm of power and leadership, The Power of One shows readers how to create a society based on love, compassion, and authenticity. This description may be from another edition of this product.
In this blend of political activism, philosophy and self-help psychology, the author presents an overview of modern problems and how our deeper understandings can help solve them. Because this book is an overview and covers a lot of ground it has some necessary gaps, and because the author, (by his own admission), is a novice of sorts, I think that's why, it seems, that sometimes his thoughts don't go from point to point, and it seems hard to know where he is coming from. These are forgivable though, because what he attepts to do on one level is to come up with a Unified Theory of personal relationship to the Universe. Some of the more interesting points are how separeteness in our society is a main source of our problems, how our enviromental, economic and social problems are inter-linked,and how we are not separate from our enemies. This book is short (less than 100 pages) and easy to read, but it definitely makes you think, even (or especially) if you don't agree with it. Virtually every paragraph could lead to an hour's worth of discussion. I recommend it for anyone who has an interest in any of these topics.
