A Powerful insight into the Happenings at Ground Zero Following 9/11

This book provides a wonderful insight into the grief, emotion, and sheer devastation that surrounded the volunteers and others working at Ground Zero in the months following the terrorist attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001. Written with heart and amazing insight (with no effort to boast or self-promote) by acclaimed comic artist Herb Trimpe (Incredible Hulk, G.I, Joe, etc), it serves as a great tribute to the people from all over the country who answered their inner call to help in any way possible. While heart breaking (recounting finding notes, body parts, a crushed dog, etc) it also serves to lift the human spirit, recounting tales of personal dedication, respect, compassion and a desire by many volunteers to be a part of something larger than themselves. An ordained minister in the Episcopalian faith, Trimpe also offers insight into his own feelings at the time, providing a candid glimpse into his personal struggles with faith, confidence, prayer, ego, and myriad other areas that all of us take in our everyday efforts to become angels ourselves. My only criticism, and it has nothing to do with the text, is in the poor editing. There are paragraphs poorly spaced, sentences incorrectly punctuated, words clearly used out of context from the intent of the author, and sloppy editing that sometimes causes the reader to go back and read a sentence 2-3 times before finally understanding what was intended to be written rather than what saw print. As a retired Army soldier who deployed to Iraq twice following 9/11 and who lost two friends in the Pentagon that fateful day, this book touched me by showing the patriotism, commitment, and dedication displayed by the people and visitors of New York in the months following 9/11, including children who gave what they could ... a note or cartoon showing support and compassion. If you are looking for a book to boost your spirit, this is the one to read.

Former Silver Age Marvel Comics Artist recounts 9/11 experience as a Chaplain

I, like thousands of other 10 year olds back in 1969 remember Herb Trimpe as the "Hulk" Artist for Marvel Comics. He spent 20 years at Marvel. I always consider Trimp - THE Hulk artist. As of late, his original art from that period is rising in value every day & is getting harder to find at various comic conventions . Anyway- The Yahoo site for message boards for comic art fans mentioned "The Power of Angels" book that Herb Trimpe recently wrote. I found it a fascinating read. I respect the people who helped clean up "Ground Zero" even more after this read. I encourage everyone to read this .
