The inspiring autobiography of one of our most gifted singers and preachers. In brief, some of his highlights were being the first gospel singer ever to perform on Soul Train and later Saturday Night Live as Jesse Jackson's special musical guest. Some may remember Mr. Phipps powerful renditions of "God Bless America" sung during several Democratic National Conventions, whenever Jesse Jackson was a keynote speaker. Mr. Phipps also sang at the wedding of Diana Ross, personally asked by Ms. Ross herself; a number he wrote for the occasion. Also a long time friend of Oprah Winfrey, years before her success, he is credited with giving her a prophetic word of "someday making a difference to millions around the world." She still considers him her favorite gospel singer. And hearing his rich baritone/bass vocals, one can easily understand why.
This is a very inspiring book.

I think that this book is a very good book. It tells the life story of Wintley Phipps, a very good singer. He tells his struggles and his stories how he interacts with people who in time would become famous. I think that this book deserves 4 stars.
