smart-funny-excellent!

i have read all her books to date and this one by far is the best! susan no holds barred writing style mixed with kick you in the rear info. makes you wanna get ur butt off the sofa and change the world. susan knows just how to word everything for each person without making you feel like a failure or a loser for beng overweight. this book is filled with what i call the "duh" factors of losing weight. things we all should know but dont or just havent done yet. this book is interesting and motivating! there isnt any reason why anyone should be overweight! you go susan! im so glad u came out of exile to write again, among other major helpful things. a must read! c. pearcy-oklahoma

The Big Picture

Well worth reading if you want to understand how our society conspires to make us all over-fat and unfit. Direct, uncompromising, and humourous, Susan bursts the balloons of the food and fitness industries and shows how it's possible for anyone - no matter how unfit they are - to take control of their own health. I'd advise reading this to inspire yourself towards wellness (and it is inspiring, considering Susan lost 130lbs and has kept it off for 20 years) and then, if you want some practical information about how to ACTUALLY DO IT - get Covert Bailey's "Ultimate Fit or Fat". Susan is FANTASTIC!!

Sure she can be a little intimidating if you aren't familiar with her style, but she is SO right on about everything!! Susan has always been the most honest person in the fitness industry and I also bought her Trailer Park Yoga video from her website, and it's just as raw an honest as she is. She's amazing, and I think she looks incredible now. She says she's in the best shape of her life right now, and I can believe it. Susan, next time don't stay away for so long! We missed your honesty and brilliance!!!

I read the Politics of Stupid as soon as I received it as a Christmas gift from my parents, and I loved it! It made me laugh (I completely understand the whole not being able to sit and meditate without keeping one eye open looking around the room...I was the kid in church looking to see how manypeople actually had their heads bowed and eyes closed), it made me angry at the advertisers who lie to us (which didn't take much...I always get mad at the lies they tell), and most importantly, it left me feeling uplifted, just as Susan's other books have (I've read them all). I personally didn't need the fat formula listed again (it's been in the other books), and when you are eating whole foods, it's going to be hard to take in too much fat, anyway...unless you're sitting around eating avacados (and I've never known anyone to do that). She tells you right in the book the foods that are good for your body and health, what to look for, so a restatement of the fat formula didn't really seem necessary to me. Now, I can't wait for the next book (and the one after that, and the one after, for years to come...)!Johnnie
