self-discovery and growth

The reason I picked up this book becasue it reminded me so much of a manga series I've read when I was a teenager called Absolute Boyfriend. The only difference is that Kelly created herself a boyfriend, and the girl from the manga ordered herself her ideal boyfriend. Now that I think about it, it also made me remember the book, Girl Parts. Where it's a guy who got a robot girlfriend. This plot is definitely not anything new. But this is the first time I got to read it in the point of view of a woman. Also, I always like STEM girls and women. Obviously, this is sci-fi, but hey, I still read the whole thing. From the get-go, I knew that romance was going to take a backseat on this. This is definitely more of women's fiction genre than romance. This book definitely focuses more on Kelly and how she navigates pressure from her family and her career. Which I thought was handled prertty well. I swear there are times that Kelly is annoying, but in all honesty, it made me reflect if I can actually do better if I was literally in her shoes. This book was definitely about self-discovery, self-growth, or just being one's self is enough. It did made me ponder about myself too. Which I think was the intention of the author. For me, it was a good book, I do think that there are aspects that could be better. But it is definitely something that could make you think and self-reflect.
