This is a wonderful unique story for children aged 13 to 103. While the principal characters are mainly animal, it is in a different style to Watership Down or Duncton Wood. The setting is medieval France, and the principal plot revolves around the domesticated Plantagenet and his efforts to help the wild animals of the forest survive an attempt by the local lord and his farmers to exterminate them. The pig Plantagenet has to overcome many obstacles, including his fear of the forest wolves, and his local enemy, the farmer's dog. Plantagenet grows throughout the story, to a satisfying conclusion. This book is probably difficult to obtain, unless it is reprinted sometime, but if you have a chance to buy a copy do not hesitate. I have been regularly re-reading it for some 20 years now.
A glimpse of medieval life.

The Pig Plantagenet is a fantasy which gives the reader entertainment and a view of European medieval rural life. This book is along the lines of Watership Down and The Sword in the Stone.
