Slightly outdated but still relevant

Lowi lays out a thorough analysis of the transformation from the traditional to the "plebiscitary" presidency through the beginning of Ronald Reagan's 2nd term. Though he gets a little repetitive at times trying to drive his theories home, he presents a combination of data and philosophy that makes for an entertaining but informative read.
