Industry 4.0 is one of those buzz words of the new decade we have stepped in, that will keep us enlivened and engaged for quite some time yet. As much as Industry 4.0 sounds and consists of technical topics that would turn off most of us, an interesting dimension that have been largely overlooked or downplayed is its human dimension, despite its being the very inspiration behind that innovation.This book aims to set those attributes by applying the principles of Truth and Sustainability to bridge the gap we have currently as little, if not nothing, has been done till now to measure and guide the proper growth of mankind HIMSELF. So here we have an opportunity to do just this through the People 4.0 of Industry 4.0. Hopefully this book will take the reader to a deep introspection as opposed to the trend of setting sustainability metrics for everything around us, everything created by us, but what about measuring our own sustainability as an entity in planet earth's ecosystem? Until we do not care to do so, there is no chance we can achieve sustainability sustainably.Industry 4.0 is the umbrella term used to illustrate how man-made systems can be conceived to provide connectivity between themselves and with their creators, and in the process provide useful data that can be analysed and interpreted to see how best these systems can be operated or re-designed to optimize certain goal. This is analogous to monitoring our health in view to keeping us in the best possible shape, but as the famous saying goes, you can manage what you can measure, without a system and definite parameters in place, it becomes difficult to diagnose and optimize. So if we are to assess our own sustainability, we need a framework or metrics to do so. Industry 4.0 derives expertise from areas such as IoT, machine learning and sensor technology as far as the technicality is concerned, and recognizes and attempts to define the role of people for the implementation and success of Industry 4.0, but a fundamental framework has been challenging to establish.This book is a re-branding of my first book on Sustainability Indicators for the Self, where the Sustainability of Man is scrutinized to expose our failings in achieving the sound growth we all aspire for, but which seems to be evading us. I find this book as relevant to the cause of the social dimension of Sustainability as it is to the People dimension of I4.0. As Industry 4.0 promises to become the new yardstick to provide synergy between man and machines, and interestingly between mankind itself, there is hope that the People 4.0 of Industry 4.0 will finally open our eyes to expose the unsustainable bases of our modern society and usher us to genuine innovation.
