World Changing Transformation Through Prayer

Who could forget the bloody, Bosnian war in the 1990's? Unrestrained evil unleashed with unimaginable fury on tens of thousands of innocents. In the early months of 1995, all hope for a peace settlement appeared lost, as politicians postured for power in failed negotiations. It was in this season of dispair that a team of western Christians embarked on an impossible journey to the heart of Bosnia. Their goal, to seek simple reconcilation, ask God for forgiveness, and invite God's intervention, bringing healing and peace on the land of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Their story is incredible, their experiences are un-explainable, and God's response exceeded anything imaginable! If you are fortunate to pick-up a copy of this out-of-print book, you will read with amazement, your faith will be stretched and you will never again believe that anything is beyond God's reach!

As a Senior Pastor, I'm always on the look out for a book that can enhance my own personal prayer life, as well as those in my congregation. This is definitely the book! A "must read"! Not only does the book give practical "how-to's," but exhaustive illustrations as to how prayer can affect and change our lives, the lives of others, and even nations! I agree with Franklin Graham's review, the book "will challenge you to take seriously the spritual battle raging in the world around us..." Dr. Hill and John Robb have offered the world (particularly the Church) some wonderful tools to help us change our lives and this world through prayer. Thank you both very much! (I'll be using this book as the primary study material to enhance our staff's prayer life at our next annual Staff Retreat)

Having watched the development of this book, "The Peacemaking Power of Prayer" from the day Jim came home from Bosnia, all through his collaborations with his co-author, John Robb, there is a single foundational principle that re-occurs to me time after time: Prayer Changes Things. We have seen this over and over in our personal lives, and it comes through loud and clear in the book. "The Peacemaking Power of Prayer" will clearly demonstrate that not only is God interested in our individual lives, but He is interested in country-level issues as well. He tells us that if we humble ourselves and pray and seek His face that He will hear from heaven and heal our lands (2 Chron 7:14); and this book chronicles this in such countries as Bosnia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Kosovo. It is a book which will encourage your hearts while also challenging your individual understanding of this mystery called prayer. Jim and John offer practical ways to come together and pray for countries and nationalities, and I know these principles work, for I have seen the results. Please consider reading through this book to further your understanding on what prayer is, and how the Lord uses it to accomplish His purposes. You will be glad you did.

The book "The Peacemaking Power of Prayer" is a call for all Christians to take a serious look at the wonderful gift of prayer. We seem to take for granted the opportunity to speak to the Creator and Sustainer of the universe over the everyday issues of life when we should be on our knees interceding for those whose lives are anything but everyday. What an eye opening glimpse at our responsibility and privilege to seek peace and restoration for people in countries so torn apart by years of hate and distrust. This book not only can be applied to countries in strife but individual lives that are torn apart and hurting. The simple yet powerful act of praying for God's intervention and healing is incredible. It is hard to believe and yet here is a book that chronicles that very thing. A must reading for anyone who wants to take an active part in peacemaking and needs encouragement to know that each individual has a voice with God.
