Jean was born in 1943 in a less than salubrious part of London. Her playground was the bomb-sites. She attended what Ofsted would now call a 'Failing' Secondary Modern School before being sent, at the age of 14, to Secretarial College in Ealing. At 16 she met Robin who was doing his National Service. They were married 18 months later and in 1968 moved to Wokingham and became the proud parents of two daughters.
