Poetic Writing

Beautifully written, with a poet's sensitivity. Not necessarily a linear story at all times(which makes it challenging), but enjoyable for the high quality of the writing and lush descriptions. Also, interesting to learn about Kamal.

Wonderful Turkish literature

I tend to devour any fiction I can find set in Turkey. This is one of the best I have read. I love the style of writing, which is "sort of" stream of consciousness,but not entirely - it is also straight narrative. The interweaving of an earlier story with contemporary works really well. I would recommend it for anyone who is familiar with, for example, "The Prizegiving" by Aysel Ozakin, "Seven Houses" by Alev Lytle Croutier, or anything by Orhan Pamuk ("Snow" is my favourite, and possibly the most accessible of his fiction works)
