Helps with the real problem

One thing that Chantel does well is she talks about the real issues behind the weight -- the triggers that set us off. It reminds me of what Danny from season 8 of the Biggest Loser said this year about figuring out what controls us because if we do not do that we will be back heavier than ever. I'm not sure how much of this I have actually thought about before and it has my mind spinning, I mean I often say I eat when I'm depressed, but it's more to it than that. I mean why do these things constantly affect me, and am I really depressed that often? Or maybe it's something more specific than that? Anyhow, like I said this book really got my mind questioning my motives for my weight struggles. This plan is for more than just weight-loss, it's about living life completely. It is based on the "One Day" at a time theme, and letting go of our past (even if it is as recent as yesterday!) What I like about this book: I was half way through it and I found myself thinking several times: "One Day Way... if I can just last through the day it will be okay.. if I just control my tongue for the next few hours it will be tomorrow and I'll be okay! If I just resist that for the next hour, it will be okay!" And you know what? I did it!!! I was so excited. I mean not just on weight, but on other things in my life that bother me because it's all a chain reaction right? I get frustrated with this and that, and than I end up splurging on food because I'm in a bad frame of mind and than I have made a bad health choice and than I can not seem to bail myself out. I mean seriously, I started reading this book and didn't get it. I didn't understand why she was chatting so much about our brains and honestly by the end, I felt better and I feel motivated to work harder and follow the extremely simple idea and make it work this time! The first 2/3 of the book focus on the issues behind our weight-loss and only the last 1/3 is on how to do the "work", which really isn't even the hard stuff! So, would I recommend this book? Absolutely! I think it hits the battle from another angle that so many of us don't think about. I think it covers more than weightloss and will encourage all around improvement. Thanks to Random House for providing me with a copy of this book for my honest review!

Pearls of Wisdom

Have you ever made a New Year's Resolution to lose weight? I know that I certainly have! I have had the privilege to review a new book written by, Chantel Hobbs; who used to weigh nearly 350 lbs.! She has since lost the weight and is living a healthier lifestyle. Chantel has written this book to help others like myself who have struggled with their weight and tried many diets, read several books on weight loss and still haven't figured out a way to lose the weight and keep it off forever. Chantel delves deeper than the usual diet books and offers a refreshing change from the old standard diets. "You can overcome old habits, old ways of thinking, and past failures by doing one single thing: focus on today and today only!!!" This book sets you up with a simple program that anyone can follow. I challenge you to read this book and try something new this year! "By believing differently about yourself, your goals for your life, your health, and the deepest desires of your heart" you can make the change...Be the change! A Great Book!

I love this book! I don't say that about many books, particularly non fiction ones, but this one is a keeper. This is not just another weight loss book; it's an encouraging manual that tells readers how to make a positive and lasting change. The premise is this, take success and failure as part of life, and don't get hung up if you stumble. Jump back into the game and move forward, one day at a time - The One Day Way. Chantel has been there, she struggled with weight issues for years. Finally she lost 200 pounds and kept it off. She knows what it feels like to be desperate for change, and yet powerless to achieve it. Her practical approach tells us not to get hung up on past mistakes but to move forward, focusing on small steps and successes. How many of us are trapped, listening to and believing that we cannot lose weight and cannot get past our mistakes? It's a lie from the enemy, Chantel says, and "You need to ditch that lie." The thing that struck me about her comments about "that lie" was how true this is in other areas of our lives too. The devil has us believing that we'll never achieve or overcome this or that. It is bondage, and God has better things for us. Chantel outlines the thinking and motivation behind this bondage, and shares the tools to break free. Faith, Food, and Fitness - these are the foundational principles upon which new thought patterns, habits, and lives are built. Not only must actions change, but the way we think about ourselves, goals, and achievements must change too. Rebuild your life with good tools, Chantel says, and you will achieve the right kind of success. Bite sized, daily, achievable goals are the ones that build success and are easier to stick with. They are also the ones that are easiest to jump back into if we slip up. Chantel shares nutritional and practical tips to maintain this bite sized success. She also shares The Ten Commandments of The One Day Way to Eat for Weight Loss and Fitness. This includes exercise tips and illustrations. The One Day Way shares Chantel Hobbs' desire to help anyone struggling with weight issues. As I read, I felt as though she was cheering me on, saying "You can do this!" And while I don't have 200 pounds to lose, I wouldn't mind shedding a few excess ones. I now feel like I really have the tools and the insight I need to move ahead and make a good and lasting change. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in losing weight. It can be done, and it can be done well The One Day Way.

Chantel will change your life

I recently bought this book for Kindle and am not quite finished. But I can say that if you are trying to lose weight and become the best, all around, healthy person you can be then Chantel Hobbs' story will truly inspire you. I've been on a weight loss, training journey for about 14 months now and Chantel's first book, Never Say Diet, has been a constant reference for me along the way. This is a woman who with the demands of life like marriage, family, 4 kids, sick parents, etc. had the dedication and determination to start excercising and change the way she ate and how she went from 349 lbs to now RUNNING MARATHONS. Even though some of her writing seems directed toward women, I am a 48 yo male and I too have been encouraged by her story and successes. I'm not running marathons...YET...but I have dropped almost 80 lbs and am running 5Ks on a regular basis. What I've picked up so far from The One Day Way seems to be a simplification of some of the principles I learned from Never Say Diet. We can't look at life's challenges, such as weight loss, and focus on how high the 'mountain' might be and get discouraged that we can never reach the top. The only way to get to the top of the 'mountain' is by taking one step at a time. That's what you will learn from Chantel...take One Day at a Time and before long you are climbing up the 'mountain' and if you keep climbing you can reach the top! In summary, read BOTH books and see how Chantel can help you change your life.

GREAT BOOK.. MUST READ!!!

Chantel Hobbs has changed my whole perspective on reclaiming my health in a realistic manner. I have not finished the entire book but I know its one that I will be using as primary reference point on my day-by-day weightloss journey. What a Blessing this book is!
